“Management in a Virtual World” is an Erasmus+ cooperation partnerships in higher education (KA220-HED) project funded by Turkish National Agency. It is a 2-year Project coordinated by Süleyman Demirel University, Turkey. The partners of the Project are universities from Italy, Romania, Poland and Portugal.
The new generation wants to go beyond classical learning approaches. Thanks to technology, access to information is now very easy and fast. The important thing today is to provide access to the right information at the right time. In other words, information can only be beneficial if used at the right time. Universities should have a role of teaching their students how to reach to right information at the right time and how to use it efficiently. Along with globalization and the development in technology, the World is becoming smaller; meaning that it is much easier to reach to the other side of the world without traveling. Businesses can hire staff from one country, produce their products in a different one and/or even sell them in another market rather than it’s home country. Thus, global graduates are needed instead of local ones, that knows how to work in the global world. Within this project this would be achieved.
Within the project a platform by simulation method will be created, where the students of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences from different countries come together virtually and work as a different function of a virtual organization. The main objective of this Project is to increase the managerial skills of the university students, their confidence, self-competence, decision making skills, entrepreneurial skills, communication along with their language skills. Teaching the students how to think and behave in a global world is another objective of this project. The experiences will be increased with the simulation program. By the help of the simulation the students will face the real-day problems of businesses and solve them, learn from their mistakes and take true actions in the real world when they start working in a real business. The simulation will show them the results of their decisions and give them a chance to solve it in a different way and let them compare their actions. Within this project the digital skills and competences will increase, the students will see all the functions of an organization and how to manage them, see the links between the functions, learn how to work in a team, increase their use of English and learn the main concepts and keywords of management literature. The students who use the simulation will have a better understanding of managing an organization, better communication skills, more experience, more confidence, brave in making decisions. Through the simulation, the students will gain the necessary skills needed in the global market.
